Apron Care
Radiation protection garments
USE: Radiation protection garments should always be worn as intended. Garments are intended to protect the wearer from both primary and secondary
(scatter radiation that is reflected or re-emitted from patients during fluoroscopic or x-ray procedures).
Garments do not provide complete protection from radiation; therefore, no part of the wearer’s body should be exposed to the direct x ray beam.
The apron style and protection level (Pb Eq) determine the amount of body coverage and attenuation a garment provides. Garments and accessories should always be worn as intended to prevent damage and unnecessary exposure.
All products are custom manufactured for each customer. Once production has commenced, there can be no changes or cancellations of orders.
RETURNS: Radiation Protection garments are sold on a non-cancelable, non-returnable basis.
INSPECTION
- Garments should be inspected upon receipt to ensure protective material is free of defects. Notification of defects is required within 14 days.
- Documented annual fluoroscopic inspections are recommended. Any defects in protective material should be reported to and evaluated by the facility’s Radiation Safety Officer.
- Garments with defects in protective material that exceed your facility’s acceptance criteria should be removed from service.
- Buckles, Velcro, and straps position the garments for proper coverage. Garments with broken or damaged features that prohibit correct positioning should be removed from service and repaired or replaced.
- All other holes in your protective material should be repaired as soon as possible to prevent unnecessary exposure.
